New Jersey expanded Medicaid in 2013. New Jersey's Medicaid program (NJ FamilyCare) covers adults up to 138% FPL and children up to 350% FPL.
Benefits in New Jersey
New Jersey provides one of the more comprehensive state benefit systems in the country. NJ FamilyCare covers children at higher income levels than most states. New Jersey has a state Earned Income Tax Credit equal to 40% of the federal EITC. The state's Department of Human Services Division of Family Development administers SNAP, TANF (called Work First New Jersey or WFNJ), and childcare assistance. New Jersey also supplements federal energy assistance with its own Universal Service Fund.
