Benefits in Massachusetts

Massachusetts has unique SNAP features beyond the federal program. The state's Healthy Incentives Program (HIP) provides a dollar-for-dollar match on SNAP purchases of fruits and vegetables at participating retailers — the first program of its kind in the country. Massachusetts also extends SNAP eligibility through broad-based categorical eligibility. The DTA administers SNAP, cash assistance (TAFDC and EAEDC), and rental assistance programs.

Main agency: Massachusetts Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA)
