Medicaid in Georgia: Not expanded
Georgia has a limited Medicaid expansion — the "Pathways to Coverage" program launched in July 2023 requires adults to work, volunteer, or participate in education at least 80 hours per month. This covers a narrow slice of the adult population compared to full expansion.
Benefits in Georgia
Georgia's Pathways expansion requires participants to document qualifying activities monthly and covers only adults earning below 100% FPL who meet the work/activity requirement. Enrollment has been far below expectations. Georgia has a large coverage gap for low-income adults who cannot meet the work requirement or whose income falls in the gap between Medicaid eligibility and Marketplace subsidy eligibility.
