Medicaid in Arizona: Expanded
Arizona was one of the first states to expand Medicaid under the ACA, doing so in 2013. Arizona's program is called AHCCCS (Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System) and covers adults up to 138% FPL.
Benefits in Arizona
AHCCCS — pronounced "access" — is Arizona's distinctive Medicaid managed care program and one of the oldest such programs in the country, predating the ACA by decades. Arizona's DES offers an online benefits portal called Health-e-Arizona Plus for applying to SNAP, AHCCCS, TANF, and childcare assistance simultaneously. The state has high SNAP participation relative to its eligible population.
